trooper11 63 Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Hi everyone, I ran into this out of the blue. Let me start by explaining my purpose. I need to grab all of the music that I added to a playlist inside of Emby and have the physical files moved to one place. I need to convert these files to use on a flash drive elsewhere, but the great thing is Emby provided that for me already. I noticed a location listed on my server 'This PC\EmbyServer\Playlists\Playlist Name\ ' and it had all the physical files that were attached to the playlist for me to grab and use elsewhere as needed. It made things so much easier. But today, I go to access it again and the location is just gone. Now I'm wondering where the new location is or to restore what I could access. I don't know if its a network thing or Emby server itself. Is there a location where playlist files are stored or cached normally? When I look under devices in windows settings, the Emby Server device is listed but says not connected. Could this be why the media playlist path no longer exists? If so, how do I reconnect it? The server is running. Thanks.
trooper11 63 Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 Not the xml file, but the actual files used for the playlist. So I was in file explorer (under frequent folders) and I saw a location that was listed as my Emby playlist name with the path I listed above. When I clicked on hat, it took me to a folder that contain the actual mp3 and flac files for my playlist, as if it had copied them there. I could then copy them where i needed instead of having to pull them directly from each of their source folders. I stil havent figured out what I might have done to change that path. I can still see the location in file explorer, it just says it doesn't exist now.
trooper11 63 Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) Alright, update. I was messing around with trying to get the music on the playlist in one location when suddenly the Emby network location showed up again in file explorer and I could drill down to my playlists and see the physical files to copy! Not sure why the network location just disappeared for a while, but its back now. And then it disappeared again, so weird. Edited May 17, 2020 by trooper11
Luke 42086 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Ok, i"m not exactly sure what you're referring to because when you create playlists in emby it doesn't do anything with files. It just creates the playlist xml files that list all of the media paths added to the playlist.
