Is there a way to point ET to an area on my desktop to play files?

I know there other programs but ET displays the best for me

Just share it and add the path to a new Library on Emby server.

This has nothing to do with emby server..I want to know if ET can be use like VLC for playing files outside the emby server

No, Emby Theater is for playing content from Emby libraries.  That content could be stored anywhere, even downloaded locally through the Emby server, but the Emby server has to ultimately be the source or ET won't know it exists.

 

If you want a local video player VLC and MPC-HC have both been great in my experience.

Ok then i will install a second emby server.I can put the files and the shows i watch

all the time on this server. Leaving the main emby server with all the other junk i don't watch.

Best thing is the files & shows will be on same pc as emby server.
