simzy 3 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 So i have the hardware transcode set up after buying the subscription and i was wondering if it was possible to set a specific gpu for the transcode. For example, my current pc has a Geforce 780 and i have a spare 660 laying around, could i plug in the 660 and have emby use that for transcoding so that if i was playing a game it would not affect the gpu. Also, would it be better for the server to run from an ssd and have the media files on a hdd or would both on hdd be easier for the transcoding etc.
Solution rechigo 364 Posted May 8, 2020 Solution Posted May 8, 2020 1) If you set "Enable hardware acceleration when available" to advanced under transcoding settings, you will have a list with all available hardware en/decoders that are available so you can target a specific GPU 2) Having the both server and media files on an HDD wouldn't affect transcoding, but you it's a good idea to keep all media metadata, cache, images, etc. on an SSD for faster access times 1
