wrong remux due network setting when playback in browser in LAN

Hi, as one of the majors are fine here now, i continue with another long term bug i followed.

as this is actually since my beginning of emby here (early 2019), its not version related (stable, beta, docker, windows, ...)

usecase

chrome browser playback in LAN, setting left to default (auto, see attachement), emby server wants to remux instead transcode (see attachements).

what happens now, spinner in browser, no chance to go back, either full reload page or kill tab.

what also happens is which is the major bug here, stream from source will stay active until restarting emby server (or tvbackend).

and nothing in dashboard as playback ...

there are 0 issues when u hard set the streaming quality settings to a value like 1080p 8 mbits, then stream will transcode and all is good,

will of course also cancel connection to tvbackend when stopped etc etc ... so all fine then.

so together, a remux when the client aint capable to playback, will result in endless loop and keep the source active ...

i also experienced this sometimes with the emby app on the samsung tv while hevc livestreams playback, but never investigated further ...

the above issue is as mentioned since i use emby, it doesnt matter which browser on which OS (Edge, Chrome, .... windows, linux, ...) in LAN,

external its all fine ... only when playing in browser in LAN and kept setting on auto.

this is no real life scenario here ... but its pretty annoying, specially, as the issue with "ghost connections" like on hdhr devices sometimes occure,

may be related to the general point, what happens if emby server auto decides to remux but client cant play it ... whyever ...

i also attached the remux log, and as sample a transcode log from same stream (working setting 1080p \ 8mbit)

may u guys have a idea ;)

Hi, why do you think this should transcode?

Hi, why do you think this should transcode?

cause its not working as remux in browser ... looping circle, stalled webui, emby server doesnt quit to source (tvbackend).

may some update with some deeper tests

chrome and edge as described, no chance here ...

now, as im usually no FF user at all, but i have to admit, up to 1080 FF can play directly and its working ...

when i choose a 2160 stream it transcodes (perfect, expected bahaviour) but actually prolly a too high bw for FF, ~60mbs ... so freezing and stuttering in FF.

but thats another story, so its more chrome related that no direct playback is possible in home lan (edge actually the same source, so same behaviour i assume).

This is just one of those difficult examples where it looks like a video that should direct play, but then the player just ends up having trouble with it.
