Collections/BoxSets Not working in MBC

Sometime in the last few dev releases collections/box sets has stopped working on MBC

 

tested as bellow -

via Web Browser :- collections working as expected

MediaBrowserTheater :- only available via views - movies - boxsets

MediaBrowser WP8.1 :- only available via views - movies - boxsets

MediaBrowserClassic collections not working

i don't have a doc yet but i can help you get started with that.

 

I have a feeling this transition is not going to be completely straightforward as MBC is expecting things like RALs and such so it may take some time and I may need to leave an option for the "old" style of presentation for die hards.  So, I can either wait until you have some docs or you can PM me specifics and I can start to look at it.  Won't go in until after this next MBC release though.

Not working means - in mbc i have no option for collections in the media folders display, where it used to display

as a media folder, no. but there is configuration to show it and it will appear in user views. i don't have a doc yet but i can help you get started with that.

Okay, candy, there is your answer.  The server is no longer returning that item as a part of the things MBC "sees" right now.

 

After the next server release, we will be re-designing the overall presentation in MBC to match what is seen in the web client.  So, I think we have another transitional situation here like we did with Trailers where that particular option won't be available on the EHS in MBC until we can react to the new server features.

Are the collections coming back soon,I just updated and there is no collection group on the EHS,in fact no collections at all as I don't group them together in my movie view.

In preferences area for my profile on server, I have both display collections view to show movie collections and group all movies into collections turned on.

 

in my preferences area for MBC I have collapse movies into collections turned on.

 

In MBC I currently get no collections entry on EHS and browsing my regular movies MBC is no longer collapsing these as well.

If you are using the new view style that matches up with the web client and all the other apps, then the Collections view will be underneath the Movie view.

 

The not collapsing thing is something I have seen intermittently reported.  Exactly what collection were you looking at?  Was it one of the "views" or one of your folders?

Ok just so you know collections use to and does show under folder browsing in MBC as well. I'm not using the new view types in MBC at this time.

 

I currently have a collections entry on my ehs, and under my movies vf area I now see collapsed boxsets.

 

The fix for me was to run the refresh boxsets option in the auto boxsets plugin.

I'd actually like to see the ability to create custom collections.  If I add movies to a collection that aren't in a collection on the movie db, then doing a refresh/scan (can't remember which) causes the files to move back out of the collection.

Hi there, can you explain exactly what you mean? Collections are exactly that, custom. you can create whatever collections you like.

Yeah, I'm assuming the boxsets plugin does it automatically using collection id?  I've got some films that are part of a boxset, but don't have a collection on themoviedb.

 

So I manually create a collection and put the films, but I've noticed that some operations (and I'll have to double check which ones, it may be reload metadata or scan library) end up moving the films back out of the collection, which is a touch annoying as one set have quite a lot of films in, so I basically gave up in the end because I was forever re-adding them back into the collection.

 

I realise this is vague, I'll try to figure out exactly what causes this to happen.
