foleys 6 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I'm having some HEVC playback issues that I've brought up in another posting, but I'm not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel, so I'm looking for a temporary fix or workaround. Is it possible to disable the Direct Play feature to force a transcode of everything? My server is powerful enough, so that's not a concern. Or better yet, is there a way to force trancoding of selective content such as just HEVC?
rechigo 364 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 You could lowering the bitrate lower than the source bitrate, that'll firce a transcode Sent from my Galaxy S10
Luke 42079 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Hi, we don't have explicit settings for this, so users would have to use the in-app quality settings. What issue are you having?
foleys 6 Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 My issues are described in this topic I was hoping to have something server-side so I did not have to visit my many clients and instruct my many users how to make alterations.
RokuGuys 10 Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 I would like to see this option as well to disable Direct Play. I was having some issues playing H.264 movie. Any time I tried to fast forward or rewind, it restarted the movie. Plex showed the same behavior until I disabled Direct Play. Ended up doing the same for Emby as well, but only that it's not straight forward and have to identify the bitrate first and go set a lower number to force transcode. From an end-user perspective, a button/checkbox would have been nice for a better viewing experience. Also, my all other h264 movies worked just fine, for some reason, just this one had issues with Direct Play.
Luke 42079 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 I would like to see this option as well to disable Direct Play Hi there, have you explored the options in user permissions?
RokuGuys 10 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Hi there, have you explored the options in user permissions? I did, but haven't seen an option to disable Direct Play. Is there one?
Luke 42079 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 I did, but haven't seen an option to disable Direct Play. Is there one? Sorry I misread. We don't currently have a disable direct play option.
thomsilbaugh 14 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I would love to see a disable direct play option also. The Roku app has no option for this.
