Is this possible? Need subtitles when I import an episode to library.

I have an external OTA DVR (Tablo) recording my tv shows, and a utility (Tablo Ripper) moving them to my Emby server for playback. What I am wondering is if there is a way using either the Open Subtitles plugin, or CCextractor to be able to automatically generate the .srt files on upload...? Or at least a way to schedule a task to create them for files created during the current day (as imports occur from midnight to 8 am)?

All I have been able to do so far is have CCextractor re-extract everything each day, which is obviously not ideal.

Thanks -

Hi, our subtitle download features can help you download new subtitles, so yes. Open subtitles is one of our supported download options. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Pretty unlikely the subtitles would line up with any given stations commercials... Sound should be out of sync.

I just tested it today and it was working just fine. Please see how to report a problem. Thanks.

Ok, so to get a bit more descriptive.

When I import media (TV shows, movies) I want the Subtitles to be generated - either on import or during a nightly scheduled task.

I have the Open Subtitles plugin installed, with an account configured. On the Library, I have the Open Subtitles box checked along with "Require a hash match" and "Save subtitles into media folders", but the two "Skip" options are unchecked.

There is a scheduled task that runs, and takes about 2 minutes, generating several rows in the log that look like this;

2020-05-05 16:28:51.945 Info HttpClient: POST https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc
2020-05-05 16:28:53.042 Info HttpClient: POST https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc
2020-05-05 16:28:53.490 Info HttpClient: POST https://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc

Yet no SRT files are visible outside of those I've periodically generated using the CCextractor program.

So I think I have the right tool (Open Subtitles) and I think it's configured correctly, and I think it's running, but no SRT files ever get added... So in spite of what I think, I wonder if I've got something set wrong...?

Hi, did you check out the help text underneath the hash mash option?

Thanks Luke - that seems to have been the issue. While I will say yes, I had read it, I didn't totally understand it, and while I may be wrong, I think it was checked by default (or maybe I checked it some time back and forgot) and I tend to leave things at defaults unless I know i need to change them.

Just ran a test and new SRT's showed up where there had not been some before!

Learning every day....
