Metadata and hiding 4k files outside of my local network

Almost my entire movie collection is 1080p which makes them very easy to stream from the outside.  My streaming works flawlessly outside and inside my network with these files.  My upload bandwidth is about 40 meg, but that hasn't stopped multiple 1080p streams from working fine.

I do have about 40 4k movies that I just put in the same directories as the 1080p versions.  If I have a 4k capable device remotely, and a 4k TV, Emby will default to 4k and want to play that file.

I originally thought I could "tag" the metadata for each 4k file with a "4k" tag and then block that tag on each of my 4 remote users.  The problem is that the metadata in each directory is tied to both the 1080p and 4k versions so a tag on that movie will block both versions.  A good example of this would be "The Dark Knight Rises".  I have a 1080p version and a 4k version.  If I look at the metadata manager of the directory, it shows the 4k path.  I don't see a path for the 1080p version at all.

The opposite is true for "The Dark Knight" which shows a 1080p version of the movie, but there is a 4k version of the file.

What I am looking to do is either tag just all the 4k versions of each movie with a 4k tag and then block that tag so remote users can't see those files, or I will have to put in some kind of bandwidth limitation for all remote users so the 4k files never play.

Anyone hit this issue before?  What was your solution?

Hi, we don't currently have a way to block content by resolution, so yes these options are your best bet. Thanks.
