cubed3 0 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Disclaimer: I'm not referring to data usage from streaming audio/video... Currently I'm on a 100 GB data hotspot that I leave out on the porch with a repeater. I previously had even less data only through my phone hotspot... This is a temporary setup for a few more months, there's no fixed wireless, no DSL and satellite costs are beyond acceptable for so little. So I ran my emby server and all streaming devices on their own network... Now that I have a little more data, I would like for my emby server to work as it did before, scanning and updating etc. Problem is my data limit... How much bandwidth would emby use if I left it to function as it did before? I know it's heavily dependent on my library size(appx 3000 movies/300 series) so just looking for a basic idea of what to expect in terms of usage... Most all of my meta data is already there but for new adds from my offline connection and just the day to day tasks emby uses in the background....? Thanks for your help.
Solution Luke 42086 Posted May 2, 2020 Solution Posted May 2, 2020 Hi, it's hard to put a number on this. It really depends on how much content you have, how frequently you add new content, and what internet metadata providers you enable. But what you could do is look at the size of the images for one title and then do the math based on the size of your library, for a rough estimate. The data requests will add some additional size, but it will be mostly dominated by images. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks. 1

But it should only be using data for new additions that I add and not re-downloading meta data etc once it's already been downloaded? All I should worry about is new additions meta data and images?
