JasonNalley 37 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) Hello all. I had a few questions regarding trailers that I am hoping some of you can answer.1) If I am using a trailers subfolder, does the trailer still need to mirror the Movie Name (year).ext/Movie Name (year)-trailer.ext Naming scheme? Or can I do Bad Boys for Life (2020)/ /trailers/Bad Boys for Life - Trailer1.mkv Bad Boys for Life (2020).mkv2) Where can I place trailers for movies I do not yet have, is there a special folder where I put them? Or do I need to create a blank folder and put the /trailers/file in there for the movie?I did attempt to do:Bad Boys for Life (2020)/Bad Boys for Life (2020).mkv Bad Boys for Life (2020)/trailers/Bad Boys for Life - Trailer1.mkvBut it keeps playing the youtube trailer rather than the local trailer. Which seems odd... All the extras work this way, I am just curious why trailers seems to work differently? Edited April 29, 2020 by JasonNalley
Luke 42078 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Hi, in the trailers subfolder you can name the files however you wish. What do you mean by movies you don't have? In your example you have the mkv there.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 1. You can name the trailer anything you like if it is in a \trailers sub folder. But someone else is having issues with naming of trailers in trailers sub folder, but it is in reference to Cinema mode. I personally have yet to reproduce a issue. 2. There is really no standard for getting trailers and putting in your library before hand. Emby will basically ignore the no movie item folder even when it has a trailers sub folder.

But, lets say I have the Morbius trailer, or the Greyhound Trailer (they came on the Bloodshot BluRay) and I wanted to add them to my Library, what would be the best way to do that? Since the movies themselves aren't out yet.

Does the case of the lettering on the folder matter? Does it have to trailers? or can it be Trailers?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Does the case of the lettering on the folder matter? Does it have to trailers? or can it be Trailers? I know it doesn't on Windows, but I believe it does on other Oses. @@Luke
JasonNalley 37 Posted April 29, 2020 Author Posted April 29, 2020 Happy2Play, so, I missed point number 2 from your post above. I apologize. So, there's no way to add them if I don't already have the movie? I mean I supposed to could make a quick 30 second "Coming Soon" video for every movie I have a trailer for that I don't actually have and then put that in there... But that seems a bit overkill... I wonder if a better method for trailers would be something like a trailers library that intermixes online trailers and self-hosted trailers, that get auto-attached to the movies once they get added? I dunno, cause I personally like the idea of keeping the trailer in the folder with the movie, so... I dunno... heh
