1pass 0 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Curious as to what people are using with their emby servers as a setup using vpn or proxy. What is recommended when you have people connecting to your emby server in regards to being anonymous to the public. My servers are ran through a socks 5 proxy chain and use no-ip as the connect source after 3rd sock 5 using only mikrotik on fibre to keep the speed up. I keep it to 3 as to allow playback with no freezing even on iptv i run directly off an OScam to ensure no freezing for the tv stream. Curious on what others are doing.

Luke 42085 Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Quite the detailed setup info, thanks for sharing. Sorry I'm not a VPN expert. I was just trying to pull someone into the thread who I know can provide valuable insight.
Zuglord 4 Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 (edited) I have tried a few, VyprVPN works without any issues, I think i was unsuccessful using CyberGhost and so far am unsuccessful using NordVPN - i am trying but am by no means any sort of IT professional, and i also do not have premium. Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 I use ExpressVPN. It costs a bit more than some but it can be directly installed on many routers and it is easy to change servers as needed and you can separately install and manage on a PC. That is you can have your router using say a New York server and use a Washington DC server on your PC even though it is connected to your router. That is ExpressVPN's router software is smart enough to recognize that an attached PC is using a different server and just let it through. In the case of VPN's you often get what you pay for. My router is an Asus RT-AC87U and ExpressVPN has a version of DD-WRT that directly installs on the router and that takes most setup issues out of the equation. It just works!
