lleb 0 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Hi all, I'm new to Emby. I have been using Plex for well over a decade so that is the direction I am coming from with my question(s). For testing I setup a local server on my laptop at the same time a buddy of mine is setting up Emby on his FreeNAS server. He sent me an invite to his server, but I am unable to figure out how to see his server from my end. In Plex, I can just change servers between mine, friends, public, etc... with a click of a button. How is this performed in Emby? Thank you, lleb
rechigo 364 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 In the top right, you click your profile or the cog icon which pulls up a list with your user settings, then you click the button "Select Server" which brings you to a list of all your servers. This applies to basically all apps I can think of Sent from my Galaxy S10 1

PenkethBoy 2068 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 its in your first picture - click signout and other servers (if available) will appear
rechigo 364 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) I dont think this applies to the web app being accessed locally via the Emby Server IP, only to the one on app.emby.media Sent from my Galaxy S10 Edited April 24, 2020 by rechigo 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Correct you can not use a local account to access multiple servers. You need to use a Connect account via online web app.
lleb 0 Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 its in your first picture - click signout and other servers (if available) will appear This did not display other servers. I did install Emby on my Roku and was able to add both servers as well as access them both. So the web interface does not have this basic function?
CBers 7450 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Correct you can not use a local account to access multiple servers. You need to use a Connect account via online web app. Unless you know the direct URLs. I connect to 7 different Emby servers and none use EmbyConnect.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Unless you know the direct URLs. I connect to 7 different Emby servers and none use EmbyConnect. Right, there is no server select with this route.
lleb 0 Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 ok, so if i follow this correctly, the web interface mandates direct URL access without a fast way to changing between servers. The apps (android, iPhone/Tablet, Nvidia Shield, Roku, etc...) devices have access to multiple servers. Still need to know the direct URL for those servers, they do not populate to user name access?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 That is what connect is designed for as the user is linked to each server, also not needing to know there address. (Optional) Emby Connect username or email address: UserName Optionally link this local user to an existing Emby Connect account to enable easy sign-in access from any Emby app without having to know the server IP address. But from a local web client aspect you have a Local user direct access. @@Luke Don't all apps default to Connect sign in, unless you manually configure besides the web client? Unless accessing via app.emby.media.
lleb 0 Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Thank you for the info on the local web user info. I did have to program the URL for the 2nd server even with the Connect Sign in. Connect on the Roku only saw my local test server, not the external server. Did I do something wrong?

Unless accessing via app.emby.media. It's not so much of a default, but rather the welcome screens encourage you to sign in with Emby Connect and you have to click the skip button to do a manual connection by server address.
