DVR: Any issues with multiple tuners - 1 OTA and the other Cable?

Anyone have experience using multiple different tuners? SiliconDust just released a kickstarter for a 4k OTA tuner and I'm tempted to get it, but plan to also use a cable tuner. I didn't know if that would cause a problem. Has anyone tested this scenario?

I would think the biggest issue would be the source and guide data.

I don't think that Emby supports having two different types of sources on two different types of tuners. But I could be wrong... I haven't messed with mine in a long time. Someone else can correct me on that.

If it's just pure DVR, you could probably set up two instances of Emby, and record to the same location, and/or add two different libraries.  That seems tedious though.

I run two Quatros and two Primes SBS for a total of 14 tuners. I never miss a recording except in a rare case when my network is down or the CableTV is out.

EDIT

I do have the locals set as off in the Prime Tuner Channel Lineups. This really isn't an issue though because the channel numbers aren't the same. As long as there is no overlapping channel numbers or you set the ones that do overlap as off you won't have any issues whatsoever. You can select two or more epg's and assign the epg's to the tuners.

Tuner management is on the long term horizon for Emby but I wish it would move to the front of development..

So do you just have channels show up twice in your guide?  One for the OTA and one for the cable?

I see what you did there.  It's clear now.  That's pretty cool.

I learned something new today.  :)

@@Sammy, one question...how did you set the locals off in the Prime tuner channel setup? The only way that I've found to hide channels is to mark the ones that i want as favorites and only show the favorites.

Double Click on the star to make it an "X". A single click makes it a Favorite which is easier to choose in Emby if you want to include just a few channels.

Got it, thanks! Wish SiliconDust or Emby made it easier to manage the tuners. Some kind of multi-select option would be nice. But it'll do for now. Time to check out the kickstarter. :D
