ThierryD 2 Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Hi the community, I use Emby on a Synology NAS. I created a Music library using the recommanded naming convention : The recommended folder structure for music is Artist\Album\Song \Music \Artist Name \Album Name 1- Song.mp3 2- Song.mp3 All tracks are well tagged (track, title, album, artist....). Browsing into the library via Emby, it appears we can't sort track by track number: 01 - song 1 02 - song 2 ... We can sort by title but in this case songs are in alphabetical order of course : 05 - A song 01 - B song 03 - C song ... I attached a screen capture as sample. When I browse in the library via my Oppo Blu-ray reader songs are sorted by title too, Is there a way to sort by track number? Many thanks for your help !
Luke 42083 Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 HI, please try refreshing the metadata on these titles and see if that helps. thanks.
ThierryD 2 Posted April 23, 2020 Author Posted April 23, 2020 HI, please try refreshing the metadata on these titles and see if that helps. thanks. I did it but nothing changed. I noticed that in some cases sorting works well (I mean songs are sorted by track number). I compared the metadata in the two cases ant noticed that if "CD" metadata (= 'ActualCD" in file tag) is null sorting is fine, if CD metadata isn't null (= 1 e.g.) sorting fails. So I put to null this metadata for files needed and refresh metadata, but nothing changed... Perhaps I did not wait enough time to let refresh.
Luke 42083 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Ok sorry I misread your question. On that screen there is no way to sort by track number because that screen will combine all tracks from all albums. Why not just click into the album to see them sorted by number?
ThierryD 2 Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 I realize that I forgot an amportant point : my lybrary was a Mixed Content library (because it contains audio and video files). As explained in this post : "https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/85211-identifying-mkv-audio/", audio is not supported in Mixed Content library. This is why I did not have the normal audio layer with track sorting.I Deleted this library and created a new one with Music type and sorting is OK, but video files aren't recognized.I created a Muisc Video libary but now Music and Music Video libraries are broken : I can browse through folders but none files are listed (see attached screen shot from Music library). It's because the two libraries reference the same target folder I think.Arf...So I remenber now why I used the Mixed content library : this is the only way I found to access both audio and video files (but without the good "layers").
Luke 42083 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Right, we currently don't have great support for mixing audio and video in the same library but it's something we can look at improving in future updates. thanks.
