Just saw in a screenshot over here (https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159719-notifications) a Plugin called "Emby Messages" but I do not see it in the catalogue and have never heard of it before.

 

Is it still up-to-date?

Hi,
I really liked this plugin, congratulations and thanks for sharing.
I installed on embyserver 4.4.2.0 and it seems to be perfect, I did the message sending test and saw the popup in the center of the emby screen, however, the notification was not displayed next to the user icon and also the icon with the number zero It is not there.
if possible, update and even publicize this plugin here in the community, I believe it will have a large number of interested parties, because your idea is excellent.

That notification count bubble was removed a long time ago.

 

But as show in this example of support images that are obsolete/outdated.

@chef is this plugin still around? was going to try and use it as for the life of me i cant get the /Sessions/{Id}/Message to work outside of the swagger UI. any help would be greatly appreciated

Yeah, I think there is code examples on my my GitHub

I l'm sure the messages plugin is posted there. You can see examples of those endpoints.

 

Also, SessionManager has Send message and Message

 

One is a websocket message to the dashboard UI, the other is a popup style message on different client UI.

I am sorry if this sounds kinda dumb but, where is the dill file like how it with with the other plugins in the emby plugins folder?

It's been a while , and I looked at the code today and realized I should probably update it and make sure it all actually works with the latest emby clients. 

 

Probably do that this week, at some point... Hopefully.

Not familiar with how to install emby messages from github to the server. Anyone care to have something handy that explains how?

You got to put the (dill)? File from the GitHub into the plugins folder that's like deep in the file system that took me a long time to find but I forget how to do it , Google how to install emby plugin manually or something similar

Are you on Windows?

 

"Emby-Server/programdata/plugins"

There is a complied version of the .dll file a couple replies back.

 

Download the zip, place the .dll file into the folder mentioned above.

 

Restart the server.

 

Please let me know how you get on, I will keep watch to help you

Yup. I saw the link, but it kept erroring out saying the file didnt exist. So I went to github to look for a dll, none found. Figured there was a step I was missing.

Take a look at the bottom of your DASHBOARD view and you'll see a few entries for paths. Might look something like this (from Windows install)

Logs:
C:\Users\Carlo\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\logs

Change "logs" to "plugins" and that should be the directory to drop the DLL into.
