carpenter2003 3 Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I've noticed that Emby seems to strip at least "the" from the middle of titles when sorting. It may do other typical words that get stripped from the START of a title for proper sorting. I understand that common words are usually stripped from the beginning of a title but I've never heard of them being skipped over in the middle of a title. an example: Alice in Wonderland is being sorted BEFORE Alice in the Wooly West I've found this in several spots as I've been fine tuning/comparing my new Emby library to my previous Plex library.
Luke 42083 Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Hi, when did you originally install emby server?
carpenter2003 3 Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 Maybe 2nd week in March, signed up for Premiere March 13th.
carpenter2003 3 Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 I copied a small movie file and did some testing and it does seem on my system at least that "A, The & An" do get ignored in the middle of the filename for sorting. Its pretty rare that it comes up, I just happen to have a bunch of old Disney Short Films with a lot of similar titles so when comparing to my old Plex library I was seeing the spots where it popped up.
Luke 42083 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Ok, with a brand new fresh installation this shouldn't happen anymore, but for servers created prior to 4.4 this will be an issue.
