Yet another strange certificate question

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Now that I have my emby server set up for secure remote connections, I have another question.

My new server box was delivered today. Once I have the hardware to go in it, it will be my dedicated media server. This will leave my current box as my daily driver.

My question is about the Certificate I need for secure remote connections. Is it tied to my current hardware? If I put my media server on new ( read different) hardware, will I need a new certificate?

If it matters, I'm using cloud flare.

You don't need to get a new cert as long as you still have the PKCS12 file and certificate password (if applicable). SSL certificates are not tied to hardware
