fladmus 0 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I really used to have a great experience with Emby, but I've been struggling for the past 2 months. I started noticing whenever I added a new movie and opened app on either Shield, Phone or even browser (running premium). As soon as I log in from new installed app or web my whole NAS goes down the drain and becomes unresponsive for up to 30 minutes. Sometimes I of course lose patience and restart NAS but it doesn't seem to fix anything as it will stall again when entering Emby App. I can replicate this EVERY time I login from web. I've tried reinstalling emby and letting it scan for hours but ANY change ANYWHERE makes it stall. It's obviously something to do with the cover imagesg but I can't figure out why this is happening. I've found a few threads with people reporting close to the same thing but no one seem to have ever found a fix. For now I've switched back to Kodi with no Embycon to watch whenever I want and do have to wait 10-15 minutes for Emby to let my NAS breathe again. However I became premiere user 3 months ago and so I really would like to know what's going on.I have attached todays log where my daughter who has external access complained right away when setting it up that it wasn't loading images. If need be I'm happy to enter coversation with developers about complete access to my emby server and even NAS. I replicated it at the end of this file by logging in from web and eventually had to close the tab to use my NAS again.

Just tried now though it only took about 5-6 minutes this time to become responsive. As long as I just add one title here and there, the long wait before I can actually use Emby is manageable. If I ever accidentally hit index again, I'm screwed for a few days. I'm using mainly Kodi without embycon for myself and that's running like a boss. Even updates my libraries faster than Emby.
fladmus 0 Posted April 28, 2020 Author Posted April 28, 2020 (edited) Just added 2 movies at once. BIG mistake I don't mean to be rude but this is really getting 100% unusable. I even waited 10 minutes this time, then wanted to check my daughter could now use Emby without calling and saying it's not responding again. Still I'm on my phone waiting to confirm my NAS is online again. It's now been 20 minutes and I can't log into my NAS, I can't do anything and my Daughter is sitting in her apartment waiting. Really, I bought premium because I thought this would be easy and convenient but it's more trouble than it's worth. Pleeease Emby, you're the absolute only service running on my NAS now How is this better than Plex? Edited April 28, 2020 by fladmus

I'm out As soon as I confirmed it was now running on my end, AS SOON as my daughter tried to watch one of the movies the whole thing crashed again for everyone. Ive killed all other services on my NAS that on their own run fine. Why is Emby killing my NAS. It was just 2 movies, come on Edited April 28, 2020 by fladmus
