alternativesurfer 0 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 So....weird change today. server version: 4.4.2.0 Was watching a show remotely on my Android phone (pixel 4) running whatever the latest version of the app is out. Stopped. Came back to it a few hours later to resume and got the spinning wheel when attempting to start playback again. Restarted the app. Navigated back to the show. Spinning wheel...for 5 minutes before I closed the app again. Got home. The app works internally. Externally, can browse the library but it just spins when beginning playback. Friend with an iOS device (iPad 4?) let me know he is experiencing the same issues. Logs attached. I didn't understand much of what I was seeing in them but it stood out that this appeared to be an ipv6 address mixed with an ipv4: http://[::ffff:192.168.1.67]:8096/. (could be nothing) Also this: Remote playback is limited to 4mbps. It looks to me like its attempting to direct play, hitting a bitrate cap, and then failing to fall back and transcode? Idk. 2020-04-14 20:37:49.677 Info MediaInfoService: User policy for Andrew & Kristen. Luke 42086 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 It looks to me like its attempting to direct play, hitting a bitrate cap Hi. You configured the server's remote streaming bitrate option, either globally or separately for the user, so it is doing exactly what you told it to.
alternativesurfer 0 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) I understand that. The issue is not that it is transcoding to a lower bitrate. The issue is that nothing plays back. I was just pointing out that as something which stood out to me. This server was configured identically at the beginning of the day, yesterday. All shows played back remotely in-app (down converting when necessary to maintain bitrate constraints). By EOD, nothing would play back remotely, but I can still browse the library in-app. By EOD, and today, everything still plays back remotely if I navigate to the server via a browser. Thank you! Hey, wanted to bump this and see if anyone had any other thoughts?
alternativesurfer 0 Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 Hi. You configured the server's remote streaming bitrate option, either globally or separately for the user, so it is doing exactly what you told it to. Hi, this is still occurring for me/my users who use the Android and iOS mobile apps for phones/tablets. All other apps (AndroidTV, Roku, FireTV, and the webapp all function properly)
Luke 42086 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 @alternativesurfer are you still having an issue with this?
