ctyank 1 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) Hi, I went to add new movies to my collection today and it has not gone well. The files are there... and they play, but Identify is not working. I updated both emby server and emby theater and still no go. When I try to run identify, I get a spinning circle for a short period and then just a black screen. Nothing really happened. Gotta tell ya... I don’t really push my system hard. I kinda just expect the basics to work. This is disappointing. Edited April 15, 2020 by ctyank
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 What is your Naming of the files that are misbehaving? Also if you look up the movies on IMDB you can use the IMDB ID to get a match for movies. Be sure to clear all other fields if you use the IMDB ID.
Luke 42078 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 HI there, yes please go over an example. thanks.
ctyank 1 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) One example is \\QNAP1\multimedia\External\Day of the Dolphin\The Day of the Dolphin_t00.mkv Another is \\QNAP1\multimedia\External\Fury\Fury_t00.mkv Some files are in External, some in other movie folders. Does that help? Edited April 15, 2020 by ctyank

Does that help? Try naming like "The Day of the Dolphin (1983)" without the "_t00" Generally movies should be named "Movie Name (year).ext"
ctyank 1 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 They successfully made it into their respective folders. There is no identifying information or proper poster. There is just a screen shot from a scene in the film. When I attempt to go to identify, (more ..., the identify) regardless of what I type in the “name” section, nothing returns. It simply spins and eventually returns blank. No error messages. My internet connection is working fine.
ctyank 1 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Thanks gilgamesh_48. Renaming the file removed the screenshot art, but otherwise didn’t change the outcome. Identify just spins and fails.

ctyank 1 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Thanks again... tried the IMDb #... same spinning. No change to the result.
ctyank 1 Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Well, I shoulda started with basic computer stuff. I had earlier restarted the NAS and applied all sorts of updates there... but never touched the PC. A reboot of that did the trick. Now I feel like an idiot. (You are an idiot) Thanks for the help all!
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I was testing when you posted so I aborted the test. I did discover something I did not know: That movie has an alternate title "Operation Alpha." I was wondering if that, somehow, was messing up your identify. The only poster my identify test returned was for "Operation Alpha." I guess that is moot now but it was a little interesting.
Queso802 1 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 (edited) Same thing is happening to me, just spins. Brand new user trying to swap from Plex.....and its turning me off. No TV files are populating thumbnail images but all my movies do. Im sure Im doing something wrong sadly. If I have to edit EVERY single TV series I am going to pull my hair out =(. 511 items missing meta data, how is that possible? I hate plex and that even picks this up. Queso802 1 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Ohhhh crap. Ok thanks. Appreciate the reply and information. My fault and sorry about this.
Carlo 4561 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 4 hours ago, Queso802 said: Ohhhh crap. Ok thanks. Appreciate the reply and information. My fault and sorry about this. There are 3rd party utilities such as file renamer or file bot that can be used to rename files and create the folder structure used by Emby. This could make this task a lot easier once you configure it. 1
Queso802 1 Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I'll def take a look and hopefully that will help. Much appreciated. 1

IMDB tt0898266 TheMovieDB 1418 THETVDB.COM 80379 Need to see the server log for this example. Also library type and provider orders. As your result is a MOVIE suggest Mixed content type and item is not known to be TV. But can't get any of those ids to provide that result. Edited January 31, 2023 by Happy2Play
secondoldguy 0 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Sorry, where do I change the library type? Logs encembyserver-63810719955.txtembyserver.txtlosed.
pwhodges 2012 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 You can't change a library type - you delete it and recreate it as the type required. Paul

secondoldguy 0 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Thanks! is there any downsize to changing to mixed type or having two different libraries : one for movies and one for tv?
