Double Folders Issue?

Hi,

I'm new here and I apologize if my subject line isn't very accurate for what I'm trying to explain.

I've attached a screenshot showing the structure of my Videos directory.

My question/situation is this...

When I view the Home Screen, it's shows my directories like Movies, Kit's Movies, TV Shows, Tutorials

Let's say I go into the Movies folder and everything shows up correctly as I have folders listed as categories like Action, Animation, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi

I click on the Action category and it shows me all the movies that I have saved inside the Action folder

I want to watch Captain America ꞉ The Winter Soldier (2014) so I click on that thumbnail...but instead of taking me to the screen where I can hit the Play button to watch the movie, it takes me to another folder with the thumbnail for the movie that I then have to click on to be taken inside of that folder and that is where I can hit the Play button to watch the movie.

To me, that seems like an extra unnecessary step...is there a way to make it so that once I'm inside the Action category for example, I can simply click on the movie that I want to watch and be taken immediately to the screen where I can play the movie and not be taken inside another folder?

I am new to Emby and media servers in general so I apologize if this is something simple that I am missing.

Thanks!

Jason

If you are using folder view, then showing the folders is expected, I believe.

You are using folders to categorise things - might it not work better to use Genres?

Hi, can you show a screenshot to demonstrate? Thanks !

Sure, here's a screenshot for each step.

It seems like Step 4 is an unnecessary step... it seems to me like once you are in the Action folder, you click on Aquaman and you should see the screenshot in step 5

Thanks for your help!

Isn't this normal as folder view adds the additional layer on the item?

I'm new to Emby and Media Servers in general so I don't know =)

What view should I have things set to in order to remove step 4 and go straight to the movie screen as seen in step 5?

but in fact in the folder "aquaman" there is the movie "aquaman"

there could also be more, so i dont see any "logic" issue here

skipping views with single entries is something else

Actually this is about the Collapse switches,  In order to get rid of this additional layer the options need to be true this would require and entire library rebuild.

I am guessing your library options.xml has a setting <CollapseSingleItemFolders>false</CollapseSingleItemFolders>.

Adjusting this switch will remove all items in this library from database and re-add them, fixing this additional layer.

Yes, there is a single folder on the hard drive named Aquaman (2019) and inside that folder is the Aquaman (2019).mp4 file

Movies\

   Action\

   Aquaman (2019)\

   Aquaman (2019).mp4

But when you're viewing inside Emby in the browser, the folder hierarchy is like this

Movies\

    Action\

    Aquaman (2019)\

    Aquaman (2019)\

    Aquaman (2019).mp4

Ah ok.... Where do I find the LibraryOptions.xml?

Ah ok.... Where do I find the LibraryOptions.xml?

Per library in "\Emby-Server\programdata\root\default"

Note all new libraries have this option set to true.

Ok, so once I adjust this setting to True in the XML file and save it....then what's the next step for me to do to get it to recognize this adjustment?

Thank you so much for your patience and help!!!

The next library scan will remove that entire library and re-add it.
