Movie metadata is FUBAR

Just added a movie library a couple days ago after renaming all files as Moviename (date).ext, all 1400 movies are in H:\movies\, no subfolders, server is latest stable version running on Win10.

I have around 300 or so that get no metadata, and a funky poster. Added a couple resized screens as attachments. I started to manually "identify" from the 3 dot menu for each movie but screw that, I bought a year sub to do it for me.

So, kinda new here, is there a wiki or FAQ telling me what logs you need and any other info I can provide? Seems as though many of the wrong posters are insulting, such as about 20 movies are shown as the poster to a hardcore movie documentary. Most of the wrong movies are popular stuff like Star Wars, Wizard of OZ, etc. Could the movie databases be compromised? Why do properly named movies simply refuse to update to proper metadata and yet I can do it manually by simply searching for the copy/pasted movie filename?

Came for the TV and timeshifting, not happy with my botched Movie library and tired of fiddling with it to get it to work.

Added a shot of the "hardcore" poster, and the "identify" page associated with it.

There have been a couple topics like this recently as Emby usually identifies by Folder not Filename.  So everything is trying to be identified by the parent folder "H:\movies\".

But would need to see the server log to confirm.

Is there a FAQ or wiki about where the logs are and how you want them delivered? I see them in settings, but it's a list of texts, assume you need the files zipped and sent or attached here?

What version of Emby Server?

Also just used Filebot to put all movies in their own folders, re-doing metadata now. Will report back tomorrow, old man needs his sleep :-P

Thanks, looks great now.

I had moved all the movies I had to one folder thinking it would make it work better, it seemed to in Plex. Ditched Plex for Emby because the OTA TV and, more importantly, timeshifting and the DVR actually work in Emby. Very happy with my setup as it is, saw another thread where people were saying they lost all their metadata recently so I'll look into how I can mitigate that. Any links to a FAQ about best practices concerning that issue would be appreciated too.

Running backup on my newly organized and renamed files now.

Was 4.4.2 the first version you installed?

They redid the KB site recently at support.emby.media so it's a good resource.

Also I've never used plex but I've seen people jumping ship and I'm curious why. My coworkers all use it and are trying to convert me. Personally it seems to me like Apple where you don't have much control over the server but I maybe spent an hour trying it out before trying MB3 and sticking with that. Back in maybe 2014?

No, I think it was the version before that.

Ok, the issue was caused by the previous version. Apologies for the disruption.
