Instant mix not working

Hi,

Using the Android app the music instant mix option doesn't do anything.

 

It works fine when using a web browser.

Android app version 3.1.18

 

When you go to a music album there's a option for "instant mix" but when you press it nothing happens.

Yes, it appears to be an issue on 3.1.18. I tried it a number of times, at least 10.  Most of the time pressing the Instant Mix button did nothing after closing and starting the app each time.  One time it started to play, however there were no media controls or indication that music was playing, only way to stop the music was to close the app.

Hey Luke, I have tried to start the instant mix from both album and artists with similar results.  Case one, open the app and sometimes it works as expected, I then stop the mix and try to start another and it will not work at all.  Case two, I open the app and instant mix will not start at all, nothing happens.  Case three, open the app and the instant mix plays but there are no music controls and only sound.  The third case has happened when sometimes playing albums using the play button and after the first song finishes the music controls appear when the second song begins to play.  Thanks.

Just wanted to bump the thread to say I'm having the same problem. Starting an Instant Mix by selecting a track (either from an album or search) does nothing from the Android app, but works as expected using the web player on the same phone (Pixel 3). Strangely, an Instant Mix will start playing using the app if I first select a Chromecast, then start the Instant Mix, but in the app the playlist will only show the currently playing track. The Next Up list is empty, even though once the initial track is finished another random track will begin playing as expected.

 

I had a look through the server logs with and without debug mode on, at least to me there are no obvious errors.

Are there any updates on Instant Mix on Android? I am continuing to have this problem for most of the artists/albums/songs in my library. All of them have a genre in their metadata so this does not appear to be the problem. Is there some prep that I need to do on the server to get it work or is there just a bug that hasn't been worked out?
