hydriplex 5 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Hello, Since just a few updates ago (I think it was around the time I was getting the wrong aspect ratio with the changes to the new internal player), when I open MBT the player appears on my primary monitor and not the monitor that MBT is residing. The GUI and other graphical elements appear on the secondary monitor as they should, but the screen goes black on my primary. When playback starts (both video backdrops and actual media), the video is on the primary and the OSD is on the secondary. In order to resolve this, I must go over to the computer and restore the window (which places MBT on my primary monitor) then drag it over to the secondary, then maximize it. I've taken some screenshots remotely to help describe the issue: Upon open: During playback:
Logos302 86 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Does this maybe have something to do with which monitor you have set an your primary?
hydriplex 5 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Well, yes in a sense. The player is appearing on the primary monitor. However, this has not been the behavior of the internal player until recently. Before the recent updates that made changes to the player, I would open MBT and it would cohesively appear on my secondary monitor because that's where I placed it.
hydriplex 5 Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Any suggestions? Is this a work in progress? It's quite frustrating. The computer is setup on a desk in the corner of our room, but is run to our TV via a 35 foot HDMI cable. I open MBT from my remote while cozy on the couch with my girlfriend, realize that the player is not present on the TV(because we still use this machine as... you know.... our computer). So then I have to get up and manually move the window. Every time. Sure, first world problems. But my setup has worked great for months until the recent MBT updates. It also took me forever to fix the aspect ratio - that was another issue. Edited July 3, 2014 by hydriplex
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Don't think it has settings on which monitor it will open on. On my system it will open on the monitor it was running on the last time it was closed. That is controlled by a Windows feature I believe. I didn't do anything special. This is exactly how mine has run successfully for months. As I keep saying, I can tie the bug to recent changes to MBT.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Before I posted the above, I verified it opened on the last monitor used. This was with the latest developer build available. 3.05287.42414. I'm using Windows 7 thought. Maybe it is a problem on Windows 8. Though your taskbar looks like Windows 7 but I know looks can be deceiving. Edited July 3, 2014 by Wayne Luke
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 You can use a tool like DisplayFusion to force an app to open on a specific monitor if you wish. That is a commercial utility but there are probably FOSS utilities that do the same thing.
