alternativesurfer 0 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Hi,I am migrating my Emby install to a new server. It will be using a different file share to access the data than what exists current under each media library's "folder" option.I had planned to use the backup plugin however found that I could not edit the original "Folder" field within a library, only the "shared network folder" so my plan was to add a 2nd folder with the new location mapped. While testing this, adding a 2nd folder that points to a new logical location....but same physical location...results in duplicate entries within the library. Is this expected behavior? I assume that if I DO migrate, and remove the old folder location that I will lose all watch status associated with those items as playback status does not appear to be linked between the duplicate entries. If this is expected, how can I migrate to a new server and retain my existing libraries with watch status while also having my libraries point at a new location for the media to reside? Thanks!
Happy2Play 9782 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Yes this is expected behaviour do to each attached folder technically being different locations. Watched statuses are not tracked by location at all. All watched statuses are tracked by their providerid (imdb, tmdb, tvdb). Only items that would ever lose watched status would be items that do not have any providerids, they are tracked by databaseid and that is lost when the path changes as the item is removed and re-added to the database. Just like you see your currently duplicated items are both showing watched.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Depending on your setup you could build out a new server then use the plugin to restore only users and userdata.
