Thomas07 0 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Hi everyone, I used to use Emby with Google Chrome. Today, there is a very weird issue, the page loads and it autoscrolls down every page. If I click anywhere, I get to the bottom of the page. I have the same issue when I try to login on emby.media; when I click in the password field, I can't write it and I'm moved down the page.I tried with Microsoft Edge, and it works well... I don't want to use another browser to use Emby... It's the only issue I have with Google Chrome, all the other websites are working just fine.
Luke 42077 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
Thomas07 0 Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 Hi Luke, Thanks a lot for your reply. Here is a quick video I recorded: https://youtu.be/pO-Ljy5m6i8 Hope this helps...
Thomas07 0 Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 I tried disabling all extensions and do all the updates... Still doesn't work...
Thomas07 0 Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 I tried reinstalling emby... Now I'm stuck because I can't change any field while configuring the server... I'm desperate to make it work...
Thomas07 0 Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 No... For the moment I decided to move to Microsoft Edge which is a real pain...
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Interesting, not ideal but have you tried clearing the browser history/cache?
Thomas07 0 Posted April 8, 2020 Author Posted April 8, 2020 Version: 80.0.3987.163 (Build officiel) (64 bits) I tried to clear the cache yes, I even reset all the settings and tried to reinstall it... Still no chance. I have the same issue here: http://app.emby.media/ It doesn't make any sense... and drives me crazy..
Luke 42077 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Ok, I'll see if i can reproduce. Thanks for reporting.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Just as a point of information I had to switch from Chrome to FireFox because of other reasons than those talked about in this thread. While some involved Emby most were related to other web sites and functions I tried to use. I will not bother to post the details as most people would find the details quite boring and most of the details are unrelated to Emby. I have been using bot FireFox and Chrome for years trying to decide which is best and, at least for now, I find FireFox the superior of the two. The one thing I have found that can be related to a number of problems is that the choice of plug-ins or add-ons can make a huge difference in performance. I have a strong need to use a good adblocker and I had been using AdBlock Plus on Firefox but I found that it really interfered with the functionality of several web sites that regularly use including two that had no adds at all. I switched to AdGuard and I have had zero problems. FireFox, running the latest update, has proven to be very stable and quite quick in almost every function. I found Chrome to be too Google-centric and Edge too Microsoft-centric FireFox does not seem to suffer from much bias toward and company. I keep two browsers (Chrome and FireFox) up to date and I keep my bookmarks identical between the two. I recommend that two browsers be kept current by anyone that uses the internet with regularity simply because it is too easy for some website to do something that breaks a given browser.
ratzmilk 0 Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Getting the same problem with both Chrome and Brave browser which uses chromium. Edge works fine. There's words I didn't think I'd ever say.
manosrh 0 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) I have also the same problem with Google Chrome. I can't login, it doesn't let me fill in the credentials. And this before Google Chrome updates to the latest version.Edge is fine, Google Chrome mobile is still fine...Latest stable version of Emby Server 4.4.2.0 Edited April 12, 2020 by manosrh
Luke 42077 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 I have also the same problem with Google Chrome. I can't login, it doesn't let me fill in the credentials. And this before Google Chrome updates to the latest version. Edge is fine, Google Chrome mobile is still fine... Latest stable version of Emby Server 4.4.2.0 What do you mean by not letting you fill in the credentials? What happens when you try?
manosrh 0 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 The problem started with some tabs that I couldn't click on. So I restarted the server but nothing. Then, I cleaned the cookies so I had to login again. Since then, on the login screen (both in locally and remotely login screens) i click on the containers to fill in my username and password but chrome does not leave me to do it... Microsoft edge is fine... Cleaned cookies, changed site permitions etc but nothing... I dont know if something is wrong with the pages css or html code... Maybe javascript?
Luke 42077 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 What do you mean by "tabs you couldn't click on"? I would try disabling any chrome extensions you might have running.
manosrh 0 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 I have already tried that too. Incognito too. Nothing. The form is there to fill username and password but when you click on both, you cannot write a single letter. Just like if you click on a website's area outside of the username and password containers, but not by me. Initially the problem was that I couldn't load several tabs of the server's dashboard. So I tried force refresh, clean cookies and so... Nothing... Totally weird situation here.
Luke 42077 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Ok, @@cayars can jump on a teamviewer with you and take a look.
alturismo 37 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) may redo your bookmarks, i also had a issue with chrome, then when i manually connected it went fine, so i checked my bookmark and seems something changed ... may that helps some. Edited April 12, 2020 by alturismo
Thomas07 0 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 The exact same problem as me manosrh, and it looks like a javascript issue but it stopped working fine for no reason. I tried disabling all extensions too.
manosrh 0 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Thank you for your help people. Already checked on that too. The most interesting is that the problem remains eveb if I log in through emby.media website... With every user and even i want to choose the "forgot password" option... I still cannot write.
Carlo 4560 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 If either of you guys wouldn't mind a remote session I'd like to do as Luke suggested and remote in via TeamViewer to take a look and see if we can figure out what might be causing the issue for you guys. With today being Easter Sunday I may not be able to do it today unless later tonight EST but I could do this pretty much any time tomorrow. If one of you would like to do this with me send me a PM on here with a time (EST - tonight or anytime tomorrow) and we'll arrange it. Carlo
manosrh 0 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) @@cayars Thank you for your reply, we can arrange a remote season when we are all available. But I have an update about the problem that might help (and also will make you go nuts)... It seems in my opinion that it's not a local problem. In Google Chrome (even incognito), I visit http://app.emby.media/#!/startup/connectlogin.html and if only I zoom the page at 250%, then I can fill in the username! But when I click on the password section, the username section enables again to input text... I can't select the password section... Even pressing Tab is not working...Exactly the same for the local login page too, which is http://192.168.1.100:8096/web/index.html#!/startup/manuallogin.html?serverId=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&user=xxxxxxxMicrosoft Edge is perfectly fine...
