4K movie keeps stopping

My 4k films keep stopping when playing. To reduce sources of error, I did not use TrueHD and subtitles when ripping. Does anyone recognize the cause in the log file?

Hi, it appears your server just can't transcode this fast enough. First of all, I notice you customized server transcoding settings. Anytime you have a problem like this the first thing you should do is reset them back to default:

Warning EncoderParametersH264LibX.Preset: Original: veryfast Actual: veryslow

After that, if it's still not fast enough to be playable, then try lowering the in-app quality setting to transcode it to a lower resolution.

Thanks. But: Emby shouldn't transcode at all. The settings are on direct stream. Why does Emby transcode?

Why does Emby transcode?

Did you explore the stats feature in the video player to learn why?

Since the audio track is not supported and HEVC can not be delivered properly in HLS, it is transcoded to h264.

Hi, I am having the same issue, all 4K movies stop playing after a few minutes. I am using a Windows 10 machine and they played with no issues until after the server update to version: 4.4.1.0

Also when using the new emby Theater App I don't see all the icons that used to be at the bottom of the scree (forward, pause, volume, CC, subtitles, etc). They can only be seen when playing movies with the server, Is the there away to get back?

Can you go over a specific example with server and ffmpeg logs.

As for Theater issue, it is a old unresolved issue that affected random systems.

To me not enough info is available as more is happening then just "TranscodeReasons=ContainerNotSupported".

The audio track is not supported by the browser so it is converted for ac3 to mp3, but since that is happening HEVC can not be delivered via HLS so it is converted also.

There is currently no way for a user to know that from the Reason given.

I am currently practicing with "Super Woman" (4K). The audio tracks in English or German are only available in AC3.

Maybe I can convert them. Which audio format is the least problematic? (The films are played on a LG TV.)

The previous log was for "Opera".  Every device will/could have different playback capabilities.  But I am not familiar with LG TV.

Give the example for first post Opera does not support the video or audio see capabilities "VideoCodec=h264&AudioCodec=mp3,aac"

Good News:

If I omit TrueHD and do not activate the PSG subtitles, Emby stays in Directplay mode and does not transcode.

A remark about Dolby TrueHD (German Wikipedia):
The codec supports up to eight channels on HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc at 96 kHz sampling frequency, up to 6 channels at 192 kHz, each with up to 24 bit sampling depth. The maximum permitted data transfer rate is 18,432 kbit/s.
The UHD blu rays usually have a higher sampling frequency and transfer rate. The best thing seems to me: forget TrueHD. (I hope I understood everything correctly.)

Support for the mkv container in Opera is resolved in Emby Server 4.4.2. Thanks.
