osak00006 12 Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 I have my extras in a sub folder, per movie, called Extras Emby is creating NFO files for them. Is this expected which all contain the associated movie's info...? They do show up as Extras in the Emby movie interface. Any way to disable the creation of these unnecessary NFO files, specifically for Extras content, only?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 yes this is newish - no info as to why this was added as nobody asked for it and no you cant turn it off they were turned off for trailers - so there is hope dont bother deleting them as they come back and dont bother editing them either as they get overwritten Very poor coding IMO
osak00006 12 Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 What is a beneficial use case? Itbjudt clones movie info. Can an option to disable be added?
Luke 42079 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 What is a beneficial use case? Well for one if you edit the metadata of an extra.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) What is a beneficial use case? It just clones movie info Yes that is a current bug. Edited April 6, 2020 by Happy2Play
osak00006 12 Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) Fingers crossed it can be disabled in a future update. Just clogs things up if you're not using them in Kodi Extras add on (Don't get me wrong, I totally see the benefit for some use cases. But for others, it's a hindrance) Edited April 6, 2020 by osak00006

PenkethBoy 2068 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 well its a basic chocolate tea pot at the moment takes up space cant see the nfo data on screen - so kind of pointless even if you do edit it - gets overwritten no option to stop it..... and if it was asked for - what was the use case
Happy2Play 9781 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 I can only assume this information would only be useful in one client (but could be wrong) as i don't see this information used anywhere.
crusher11 1101 Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 It saves titles at a minimum. But yes I would like to see extras get a details page like movies or episodes so we can see descriptions, runtime, chapters, etc.
osak00006 12 Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 Looks like using .ignore doesn't even work for Extras folders. Yikes

We'd have to add a separate option for that. Right now it seems that most users want this applied consistently, so that's why you get nfo files for extras if you enable it.
