Mfusick 38 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Reclock uses WASAPI exclusive mode and bypasses the WIndows mixer. I noticed my sound quality was better playing music through MBtheater than it was with PLEX, XBMC, VLC or Windows Media Player - each time after I tried it was confirmed MBtheater was superior. It took me a while to figure out why but I think reclock is why. Anyone else noticed the same thing ?
Mfusick 38 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Well before I go tell the world I wanted to make sure that is why I was experiencing. I can't think of any other reason this is so.
Luke 42077 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Right on. go tell the world about this. I know everyone at avs forum is gung ho about jriver audio quality, they should probably know we have the same thing now. For free, and open source. 1
johnhb 7 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) With WASAPI exclusive mode (or ASIO) drivers, playback at the same sampling frequency as source, no DSP, and with any digital volume controls set to max, all media players will be exactly the same. So, yes it's great Media Browser now supports this (as does J River, Foobar and several others when setup correctly). Now we just need the music library to be implemented, lol... and a move away from the lav codecs is essential so we can have gapless playback :-) This will give MB the real edge in terms of a decent 10 foot UI. They keep promising it's coming, waiting patiently... Edited July 5, 2014 by johnhb 2
Ghostm 74 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Wasapi exclusive should be working with the latest dev builds built right in to MBT thanks to babgvant. No need for reclock (Unless you want to use it for other reasons). It is locking up however when you use radeons video backdrops, it was not addressed yet since the entire gui overhaul is still ongoing. As the poster above mentioned, we just need music support. Although I will say i love lav codecs for video/subtitles along with madvr and hope for video this never changes, music I have no preference as long as my flac is output untouched. Visko 0 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Except it doesn't allow playback to a specific device. Still only chooses Default. But I'm glad to finally see that by setting WASAPI and selecting the WASAPI device I can finally hear the sound from my Surround Sound System hooked up to an AV Receiver/TV connected to my nearby computer that has its own Monitors and Speakers. Lovely that I can use remotes without bothering normal computer use either.

I can select and it see's my tv (even though its running through an avr) but its just reporting what AMD audio see's, my tv for instance. So i can select default or Samsung tv.
