ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 It is not. And it would only take 2-3 minutes to scan the entire library.
Luke 42080 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Can you please attach the emby server log? thanks.
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 1. There are a lot of log files. How do you save them? 2. If I answer, I obviously can no longer send an attachment.
Luke 42080 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Please save the log file from the time frame of the high cpu usage. To attach, click more reply options next to post. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 As I said: There are a lot of log files. I enclose an overview of the first files. Further, I still don't know how to save the log files in a file.
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 I found out how to save the log files. Here two examples. 192.168.1.136_8096_emby_System_Logs_embyserver.txt_api_key=5620478d31994e4783dfaed6572078e8.pdf 192.168.1.136_8096_emby_System_Logs_ffmpeg-transcode-000e09e9-4998-4ef2-a4ad-9743e06f1974_1.txt_api_key=5620478d31994e4783dfaed6572078e8.pdf
Luke 42080 Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Hi, your system is transcoding for playback and burning in subtitles. Burning in subtitles is a very costly process, even for a powerful machine. Were you not aware of this?Try turning off subtitles prior to playback and see how that compares. Thanks.
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 28, 2020 Author Posted March 28, 2020 Are you talking about this?
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 Does anyone know why my Emby is constantly transcoding and how to turn it off? Deactivating the subtitles was of no use. I enclose the last log file. Emby log file 29-3-2020.pdf
Luke 42080 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Hi there @@ArnoRoggo did you explore the stats for nerds feature in the video player to learn why it was transcoding?
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 Hi Luke What video player are you talking about? (I watch the films from NAS with Emby on TV.) Can't you see the cause in the log file?
Luke 42080 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Yes i can see the reason, but the app on the TV can show you the reason. Did you check out the stats feature inside the video player?
maegibbons 1287 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 The video player built in to emby on your TV! From the OSD when playing a video choose the cog and select stats for nerds. It should give you lots of info including the reason for transcoding. Krs Mark Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
Luke 42080 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 But the reason is you still have PGS subtitles selected, and PGS is not supported by LG.
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 Thanks Luke, thanks Mark I don't see anything unusual in the statistics. What should I put attention on? Where do I select another kind of subtitles? (Or is this already determined when I'm ripping?)
ArnoRoggo 1 Posted March 31, 2020 Author Posted March 31, 2020 In the meantime I have understood it: If the player (TV) cannot read the format of the subtitles, Emby begins to transcode. This leads to a high load on the CPU. Thanks.
Luke 42080 Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Where do I select another kind of subtitles? (Or is this already determined when I'm ripping?) Have you checked out our subtitle download features to download external text subtitles? https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001848856-manual-subtitle-downloads
