Hi all,

i need help, because im wasting too much time without finding a solution which leads to nothing. I have Win10x64 with a dynamic internet connection (external ip changing once in three months). I bought a domain at Namecheap. Created a Ddns which doesnt work properly:

Could someone check my setting, if they are correct? Cname record is host emby - value dns.mydomain.address. URL Redirect record host @ - value http://emby.mydomain.address. Forwarded port 8096, 8920 and 443 for testing. DynDNS not working aswell - dns client:

What am i doing wrong? Btw i bought in advance SSL certificate at namecheap:

Ive received three files: *.ca-bundle, *.crt, *.p7b How do i get the pfx and private key? Is the private key the CSR code at namecheap ssl dashboard? I know, i have too much questions, but i want to sort this out and use the benefits of https...

Thanks

Hi, what's wrong with DynDns?

Hi,

so the dyndns is working. I have an another question. Is someone here, who is using Namecheap positivessl product? Is it possible to use SSL for the domain like (www.sslconnection.com) or can i use it for the created subdomain like (test.sslconnection.com)?

They say its not possible, that i can use it only for domain like sslconnection.com or www.sslconnection.com

Swynol, could you please help me out? :D

Why not just move your domain to cloudflare, and use their SSL keys instead. That way you get new certificates updated. And all you need to do is update that IP, or you could use a dyndns service and add that to cloudflare.

Using cloudflare has even more positive things like protection to your servers, and hiding your real IP.

Shidapu, thanks, im learning...i will look at cloudflare this night :D now everything is working good. The last thing is, i would like to know, if its possible to force https over http in browsers...example, someone opens up a browser and tries to open the website (http://)test.emby.com, it would automatically open https://test.emby.com ? Is this possible at my domain setting (namecheap) or on the emby side, or at last at clients side? Thanks

I don't think redirecting http to https is built in to Emby, but any reverse proxy will be able to do this for you - in fact, in Caddy it's the default behaviour.

Yeah as pwhodges said, dont think thats possible. But you could always only open the 443 port, and skip portforwarding port 80. If that is the ports you are using with emby.

Im using Nginx myself for reverse proxy, it keeps my server even more secure, and i can host more sites to use only port 443 to the web by proxying my sites to different ports locally.

But the easiest thing you could do, is setup cloudflare, use port 443 in Emby, and portforward that port only. In Cloudflare, just type your IP and it should work. With cloudflare you can setup it to do what you want, https rewrites.

What is your Dashboard-Network "Secure connection mode:"?

My server redirects "http://MY-emby.homeserver.com:8096"to "https://MY-emby.homeserver.com:8920", but am not using proxy or any thing else but certificate and "Required for all remote connections".
