hstamas 179 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Just curious how people use the manager? As far as I can tell you cant do things like batch edit (add a tag to multiple shows at once for example) so I wonder why use the manager as opposed to just editing individual shows or movies within their details page? Am I missing some useful features?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 nope you are not missing a secret setting - i hardly if ever use it i just go the the item and edit metadata - as its no different than metadata manager - the only extra it provides is a hierarchy of files on the left As for batch edit - it can be done but you need a script to do it via the api - but not an option for the average admin user
Spaceboy 2573 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Agreed, the metadata manager is not user friendly in any way. I only make this point because the devs think admin users are using this over the web client and therefore removing useful features. We’re not
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 I use the metadata manager when I need to edit multiple things at once such as updating a bunch of movies or adding titles to the specials for a new TV show. It's not an every day thing but it's not unused,
DrHermel 0 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I use the tinymediamanager to scrap, rename, edit all my movies / series. And emby used these informations. The check mark is set for real-time monitoring and all others also because of the .nfo file and thus emby takes over the metadata from the .nfo and adds its own. Works verry well
TolkienBard 58 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Biggest thing I use it for is cleaning up files after a big batch of new media is scanned in. I also use it when I add shows to the server which turn out to have their episode orders not sync up properly with the correct viewing order. Shows like this that come to mind are Conan the Adventurer, Firefly, The Dresden Files, and Batman the Animated Series. In cases like those, I find it simpler to pull up each show in the metadata manager and scroll down through each episode to properly assign the alternative episode number and to then lock the new order in place when done.
