Playback Issues Beta

I do not know if this is an issue in the stable release or not, I just know I am having an issue with playback of some AVI files in Beta Version 4.4.0.40

I can play the file in Plex, VLC, Movies and TV from Windows, Media Player Classic, and even Windows Media Player.  But not Emby!  :-/

ErrorLog.txt is the relevant portion of the Log file

The other 2 files are the complete log files

I am uploading the file to dropbox if it is needed.  Sadly, it is going to take about an hour.  I can link it when it is completely up.

I have tried refreshing the metadata and it did not help the problem.  (saw that in another post)

This is not the only file that I am having issues with, I know of at least one more.  With a library of thousands, it is not feasible to check them all.

I rather not post a link to the file publicly, happy to PM you a link to the file.

Drug the old server out of hybernation and back into the light of day.  I did some digging and these 2 videos both play on Emby 4.3.1.0

PS: It would be great when you could provide a test file, though. (no urgency)

PM'd you a link to the video file in question.

I installed the addon, checked Enable Legacy Command Building and both of the videos play fine now.

Sorry, I hate to be the bearer of annoying news.

Thanks for supplying the test file.

It turned out that this is not a problem at the side of Emby.

Your file is not an avi file, it's a matroska file. Rename from .avi to .mkv and you'll be fine.

@@DwarvenLord1 - Just fyi, we decided to revert to the earlier behavior which is more tolerant about video files having an incorrect extension.

Thanks again for reporting this issue!

Seriously!?  Well huh!  That is...

Ok, now I feel a bit dumb even though honestly I don't even know how to go about checking what the actual encoding is versus the file extension.

Thanks for looking at the problem so quickly!

You guys are doing an amazing job!

MediaInfo is the way to go.
