Could this the reason be why the photos are not showing up? They come out of a Apple Photos library.

If they HEIC, yes.

Ok, makes sense that I do not see anything in photos in Emby. Any idea when this format is going to be supported? I love Emby, just got a subscription.

All I can say is they are working on it as it is/was an issue in ffmpeg and/or skia. 

But looks like they may have something in the works.

I just updated to the latest version, hoping to find support for the photos now.

I still don't seem to be receiving them through Emby (MacOS, IOS) any ideas?

Hello Luke

Yes, the problem existed since a while that I cannot see any of the photos on the NAS through your Emby app. You said then that it has to do with the Apple system and that it will be addressed in later releases. So this was my enquiry, as I still cannot see the photos / videos from the /photos folder on the NAS.

Hope it makes more sense now.

What did you just update though, and to what version?
