Emby will mark media as play if there is a problem retrieving the media

Hello,

 

I want to report an issue. As the tittle states, if there is a problem retrieving the media, Emby will mark the episode/movie as played. Emby version 4.4.0.30-beta

 

Here is an example:

  1. An episode of a show as added and Emby process the file.
  2. The file was renamed or removed, Emby was not notified or has not yet process the notification about the file.
  3. Emby tries to grab the file to play it, is not able to find the file.
  4. The client fails with the too many errors message.
  5. The episode is removed from Emby, since is not longer there.
  6. The episode/movie is marked as played.

I think the issue is with the media being marked as played. It would be great if Emby was smart enough to rescan the season or movie directory to make sure is not there or to update with the new copy but that might be asking too much :) .

Hi, this is normal when emby doesn't know the runtime of the media, then it just gets marked watched when you play.

Hi Luke, what you are saying make sense, if emby doesn’t know the runtime of the media, but isn’t this different?

 

The media doesn’t exist anymore. Why mark it as played in this case?
