RogerWeir 0 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Hi all. Running a lot of testing on Emby for MacOS at the moment, potemtially retiring Plex. So far so good, but after a lot of bashing today I noticed my Mac Mini server had slowed to a crawl, with CPU constantly hitting 100%. Activity Monitor reported 3 ffmpeg threads were almost all of the cause, apparently spawned by EmbyServer. At the time I discovered this, no content was being used and theses processed had all been running for over an hour. Killing the processes bought my Mac Mini back to life, Question: Is this a known issue for EmbyServer on MacOS? Details: Server Mac Mini running MacOS 10.14.5 Mojave 8GB Ram. This has been hosting a Plex server for a couplr of years now.
Luke 42077 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Hi there, we're sorry to hear about this. Can you please try the new 4.4 release that just went up today? Thanks !
RogerWeir 0 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 OK, I'll do it now. Thanks for the quick reply.
RogerWeir 0 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 OK, I did this and repeated an earlier test. Watching on Activity Monitor, the server created an ffmpreg process (62% CPU, a bit high...), I rerminated playback and the process also ended. Excellent. I'll keep my eye on it over the coming days. One more quick point, is there anyway of knowing a devices available storage (iPad etc) when downloading content from the server?
Luke 42077 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Thanks for the feedback. One more quick point, is there anyway of knowing a devices available storage (iPad etc) when downloading content from the server? Not currently, although that's not a bad idea.
RogerWeir 0 Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 Mmmm... still have problems. Server CPU again at 100% and totally unresponsive again. Reboot (3rd today). Sorry guys but I'll have to stop the Emby testing as I need a stable server. I'll try again in few months.
Luke 42077 Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Can you please attach the emby server log? You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
