Wasapi audio cutting out

Here's my dilemma: I have to use Wasapi to get full surround sound on my videos. The problem is this: my surround sound receiver cuts out at the beginning of every video (the hdmi and pcm lights blink, a clicking sound is made (possibly the power unit), and the audio goes silent until the lights return, the video is fine though.), and every now and then throughout (depending on the video). This also occurs when stopping the video. I'm sure it has to do with Wasapi, because I have the same problem using Wasapi in xbmc. Unfortunately, not using Wasapi doesn't work at all, the audio gets output as PCM stereo.

 

 Receiver, for reference, is an Onkyo ht-r591. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix my problem? Not only is it annoying (especially in the middle of a video, as you can imagine), but I'm sure it can't be good for the long term health of my system.

 

Some more notes:

- Audio for videos is either ac3, mp3 on some scant files, and flac (mainly the reason I'm using wasapi instead of passthrough, my computer isn't powerful enough to output lossless audio, only the lossy core, but flac with wasapi outputs the full lossless track (and saves space, to boot). Audio without wasapi is PCM stereo, as mentioned above.

- Switching my receiver in playback devices from stereo to 7.1 (my setup, obviously) works, but the cutting out problem is worse than ever outside of video, and in many cases the audio is off by default when in this state.

What kind of pc do you have? And what version of mbt are you using?

 

I helped babgvant test wasapi, and had this issue but it was fixed in later builds. Your situation could entirely be different though because xbmc wasapi always worked for me.
