ricketyca 4 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 When casting on my home LAN from an Android device (phone - Hauwei or a chromebook) to an external chromecast (not built into my TV) when the video is underway, after a few minutes the casting device screen times out and the video pauses. If I resume using a device on the network (normally I use Google Home unit) all is well. Similarly, if I fold the chromebook or turn off the phone screen, casting pauses. I imagine that the app should issue a pause if its screen times out when a video is playing, but this action should not really be occurring if the video playback has been cast elsewhere. This only happens if the screen goes off on the casting device. Other devices (phones, PCs etc) on the LAN can manually pause and resume, but even when they have done that, their screen going off does not automatically pause the video. Because we can continue easily, it is a minor inconvenience, but slightly irritating.
Luke 42083 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Hi there, yes we are looking into improving this. Thanks for reporting.
ricketyca 4 Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) Just a quick update in case one of the team is looking into this I experimented yesterday with my Chromebook settings. If I change the option "What to do when I close the display" the setting "Sleep" is what causes the problem. When I change that setting to "Turn off the display" the problem did not occur through the 90+ minutes we were Embying to Chromecast. I imagine that my battery capacity may be used up more quickly though. Rick Edited May 13, 2020 by ricketyca
