hello

my mother does these webinar things over zoom and she said that zoom's cloud hosting for the meeting VODs is really expensive

she tasked me with getting her an estimate for building a machine to host the vods self hosted to see if it would be worth it over zoom's subscription

I immediately thought of emby since I use it for my blu-ray rips and it works great.

does emby have an api I could use with a python webserver to make accounts and delete accounts and disable accounts based on a payment with paypal system or something like that?

also what kind of hardware would I need to host something like this?

I was thinking get 4x wd red 4tb in a zfs raidz2 and a baseline quadro with the new nvenc encoder but what kind of cpu and ram would that need?

I have a spare 32gb of ddr4 3200mhz gskill trident z I could throw in. I would need to get a motherboard and cpu.

i feel kinda bad for "passing the buck" off here but I need a bit of help

I don't really understand what you are trying to do exactly and the amount of bandwidth required but I think that regardless of what you are trying to do a single SSD would likely be the better option, or two in a RAID1 configuration if you need some redundancy.

How many simultaneous users and what video quality/codec are you planning on using? Direct play or transcoding?
