bocabill 1 Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Not an error report, but more of a "be on the lookout for" as my issue is now resolved. It appears that Windows 10 update KB4535996 was rendering Emby unable to list the Plug-In Catalog, update plug-ins, connect to IMDB to identify new media, and other issues. Removing the update (backing it out and restarting from the Windows control panel) put Emby back into proper working order.MS appears to be aware of issues (though breaking Emby isn't listed as a known effect) and is reviewing the update. https://www.windowslatest.com/2020/03/08/microsoft-confirms-a-known-issue-in-windows-10-kb4535996/ If anyone using Emby Server on Windows 10 experiences issues similar to the ones I was encountering, removing that update from their server may help resolve their problem.
Happy2Play 9790 Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Emby does not connect to IMDB in any way, but thanks for the info. 1
bocabill 1 Posted March 10, 2020 Author Posted March 10, 2020 Emby does not connect to IMDB in any way, but thanks for the info. Good to know and my mistake. I had assumed that whenever I manually entered an IMDB ID number in the field for identification, that the lookup was done by contacting IMDB (which was one of the ways that things were failing when the Windows update was installed). I should know better than to assume, but I keep doing it again and again!
Happy2Play 9790 Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 FYI the IMDB id field will query Emby providers by that ID, ie TMDB and OMDB assuming they have that external id assigned in their database. I see this KB as a option install, so I guess I will do some testing. 1

Happy2Play 9790 Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) I personally did not notice any issue with this update, but have had 2 updates since also. Have not done any research on them. Edited March 14, 2020 by Happy2Play
