jsandlin 0 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Was looking at getting another Android box and came upon this one H96 Max Smart Android 9 TV Box https://www.ebay.com/itm/H96-Max-Smart-Android-9-TV-Box-4K-4GB-64GB-5G-WiFi-BT4-0-HD-Media-Player-MXQ/184147344906?hash=item2ae0097e0a:g:JKwAAOSw-SVeLicC and was seeing if anyone has had any experience with it? Been using the Xiaomi Mi box from Walmart for several years and never had a problem but this one is about $20 cheaper and better features. Anybody have any suggestion on another box? Thanks for any suggestions @@maegibbons @@CBers @@Jdiesel
Jdiesel 1431 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I don't follow the Chinese Android box market very closely anymore but I have always leaned away from any cheap boxes and went for something that officially runs Android TV. Is there something about the Xiaomi Mi that you don't like? I think there was some really good sales on them recently. If a Shield TV is outside your budget you might want to look into a FireTV as a more affordable option. 2
ebr 16184 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Hi. What do you consider "better features"? For our app, sticking to certified Android TV boxes will always be the best option. Others may work fine but when they aren't running true Android TV the problems can arise. 1
jsandlin 0 Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 Not had a single problem with Xiaomi Mi in the 2 - 3 years I have been using it just wanted to add a few more boxes to the house. I just thought that Android 9 and more memory where the better features but I guess i was wrong if it is not an official version of Android. I looked at the Shield TV but did not see the justification for the price for what i would use it for. I just use it for Emby and YouTube and most of my recording are 720P. What would be some suggestions on a good box? Is there something that would make the Shield TV a better value for me considering what i am using it for?
ebr 16184 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 If you don't need HD Audio, then I think the Mi is the best economical option out there.
