mbc0 68 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Hi, I am moving one of my libraries to another location and even though the library is set to store metadata in the movie folder emby is not detecting the correct movie. Is there something I can do before I move more?
Happy2Play 9785 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Do you have the xml metadata plugin? If not then xml metadata is not read. Not sure if it needs to be the first read or not though. I know It is for me as all I use is xml metadata provided by third party. What is in the nfo? Edited March 6, 2020 by Happy2Play
mbc0 68 Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Hi, Thanks for your reply :-) Under installed metadata plugins for movies I have Moviedb Nfo Metadata OMDb The nfo file was created (check the date) on the rescan after moving the folder location so contains incorrect data <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <movie> <plot /> <outline /> <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2020-03-06 01:35:33</dateadded> <title>The Goon Holler Guidebook</title> <year>2012</year> <imdbid>tt2557662</imdbid> <runtime>92</runtime> <genre>Short</genre> <genre>Comedy</genre> So I have now installed the xml metadata plugin, what is the best way forward from here? delete all the nfo's and rescan? Thank you Edited March 6, 2020 by mbc0

Thank you I would remove the library, allow the library scan to complete, delete the nfo files, re-add the library and ensure xml read it first. Note the plugin only reads xml files it will not write any new or updated info. You can enable writing nfo files as the xml will be read with all of your correct information. Happy2Play 9785 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Thanks for the info, If I remove the library and re-add it will I still keep my playstates? are there pitfalls to doing this? Thanks for your time All userdata is saved by providerid (IMDB, TVDB, TMDB), only items that do not have these would lose their status do to getting a new databaseid. also, sorry, I have metadata savers enabled for nfo is that what you mean by enabling writing nfo files? Thanks You can, I personally use Media Center Master and have Emby read it. I don't enable writing nfo files, but allow Emby provides to get info and only write to database.
mbc0 68 Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 ok, thank you for the info, I really appreciate it!
