Richard Branches 330 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Emby for Android TV appears available to be installed on smartphones at the Play Store website, shouldn't be available only for Android TV devices instead?: 1
ebr 16184 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 I'l look and see if things have changed with their new store upgrades/changes but, in the past it wasn't a simple check box for "only on Android TV". We would have had to go through and manually exclude devices and there wasn't really any reason to do so. However, I'm curious as to that screen shot of the store because it looks old... What version is that showing?
vdatanet 1617 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 (edited) Emby for Android TV is available for my Samsung Galaxy TAB A, I can install it, I can login but it doesn't load content. This could confuse users. Edited March 3, 2020 by vdatanet

ebr 16184 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 This is not enough? <manifest> <uses-feature android:name="android.software.leanback" android:required="true" /> ... </manifest> Perhaps, but that will block everyone running the app on some devices (cheap "android tv" boxes) where there may be some minor issues but it doesn't mean the app doesn't function at all...
Richard Branches 330 Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 I wonder why the Play Store entry doesn't appear as a single app which include both the mobile and ATV version as others I've seen?
ebr 16184 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 I wonder why the Play Store entry doesn't appear as a single app which include both the mobile and ATV version as others I've seen? Because they are completely separate apps at this time.

Yes, those cheap Chinese boxes that they sell as Android TV should never have been released.
