When deleting and installing a new emby server all clients need to reconfigure their apps

I experiment a lot and tend to completely delete my emby server when i screw up and install a new emby server on the same hardware with the same IP.

 

When i do this all my clients (roku, firestick, android apps) stop working and i need to delete the old server information and reconfigure them for the new server even though its the same IP address and same computer hosting the information

 

Is there a way to get around this?

Hi, yes this is normal. A new installation is a whole new server. The apps will have saved credentials that are no longer valid.

 

That's not to say that we can't make improvements to this, but in general, they will have to sign in again.

Just a guess but if you re-applied the same device id (device.txt) in Emby-Server\programdata\data folder it may work, since every install is considered a new device.
