Linksys7 0 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I have Emby installed on a drive c:\ of windows 10, And I installed a dual boot system on the same drive. Windows 7 is the second boot but on drive letter H:\. Now what Im wondering because you cant install emby on any drive other than C:\ can I still run emby server while in Windows 7 (H:\ drive) simply because its on the same physical drive but different partition? and I still have access to drive C:\ files and folders.
Happy2Play 9784 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Drive is relevant, so if you install Emby and your system and running on H:, Emby will install into that users profile on that H: drive.
Linksys7 0 Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 So if I install a new instance of Emby to drive H:\ it will run under that drive? or will it auto install to drive C:\ ?
Happy2Play 9784 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 The OS is dependant of the drive it is installed on. So installing something in Windows 7 H: should never install on Windows 10 C:.
pwhodges 2014 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 But presumably a portable install made to any drive of choice could then be run from either OS equally well. The point of a portable install is that it is not tied in to any specific OS. Paul
