Clock during pause in Android TV app?

Could we get a clock on the Android app? I know it seems unnecessary for mobile devices or even in a browser but on an Android TV device, such as the Shield, there is no perpetual system clock displayed. Having this as an option to enable for Android TV devices would be great.

I know it's there during playback in the right upper corner.

I am agnostic on this request.

 

Cannot see the harm to display it when paused but equally down arrow brIngs it up pretty easily.

Right, it's not terribly necessary but would be nice. If anything it could automatically disappear like the progress bar does

There was a lot of feedback the people didn't want a bunch of stuff on screen when they paused so that's the way we've gone for now.  We will monitor this request.

I agree that minimal information is best, I just thought I'd ask since the information already there goes away after a short period anyway.

I like to keep a cheap digital clock sitting at the base of the tv. Then no matter what's on screen, you can always glance down and see the time.

 

Just a thought.
