Guest Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 (edited) Hi folks. I bought a Shield this week specifically because I read the Emby app can bitstream DTSHD and TrueHD audio. I do not believe this is happening. Pic attached. Is this not correct or is there a setting that needs to be changed? Thanks. Edited February 21, 2020 by Guest
ebr 16182 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Yes, that is bitstreaming your DTS audio. That particular stream is not DTS-HD.
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 How can you tell if it's passing the correct stream in SFN? My SFN for a DTS-X stream is saying something similar and I'm pretty sure it's passing the correct stream because my soundbar is lighting up "DTS-X" which is the DTS-HD MA stream. My SFN however shows something similar to the above pic, but the channels are 7.1 (some DTS-HD of course can be 5.1 though) and it doesn't show the bitrate (I assume because it's lossless it doesn't show bitrate?) If SFN showed the profile instead of the codec I could tell because the codec for lossy and lossless is both DTS. The Profile for DTS-HD MA is just that while the profile for DTS is "DTS"
ebr 16182 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 True, if it happens to be the "X" flavor of DTS-HD, it may show in SFN as just DTS right now. Whatever it is - it is being sent unmodified (direct as indicated).
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Ok, I assume it's working because my soundbar says so and it says Direct is there any way you can change SFN to show the profile though instead of the codec? The profile on the web client shows DTS-HD MA while the codec is DTS 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 It's the same with all DTS-HD (no matter channels or if it has X or not) it always says codec DTS. At least with the profile we would know for sure if the stream had HD, especially with 5.1
FrostByte 5392 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Same movie in the web client showing profile Now if the channels are 7.1 then I can assume it's DTS-HD, but if it's 5.1 channels the only thing I can tell is that lossey shows the bitrate and lossless doesn't 1
Guest Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Yes, that is bitstreaming your DTS audio. That particular stream is not DTS-HD. Yup I'm an idiot that particular file did not had DTSHD. Found another one and my receiver lit up and stats show the same. Thank you. I guess what i'm really trying to figure out is if there is a huge advantage to using the Shield vs Xbox One which seems to have a great app as well to use . Only thing is I believe there is no way for me to get HD audio to either bitstream or to be sent without compression (PCM on XBox I believe). Is there no way to achieve the full audio and video capabilities without an HTPC or Shield? Wondering if any other device can do full video and audio with Emby. Thanks again.
