somy 25 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Hi, sorry if the question has been answered before, I tried to search but didn't find anything clear. I'd like to ask what is the vision of MBT in the future? I know it is going to be the flagship player for MB, but are we aiming to have a MC similar to XBMC with all features or will it focus more on PQ? What are the feautures that MBT plan to support and what will make MBT different from other products? Plex seems just build their customized XBMC, why MB didn't choose the same path? politby 88 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I doubt the real interest in MBT is going to take off until it is stable on the path to become THE replacement for WMC and that requires a live TV solution with support for encrypted broadcasts in its various forms, built on a rock solid server engine such as DVBviewer or DVBlink. This is not an easy task to pull off for a community sourced team. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 The developers are redoing the architecture of MBT so that it is easier to update and extend. This will allow things like LiveTV to be added. Hopefully they will post an update relatively soon.
Aphid 212 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 The aim is to support every media type that MBS supports. It will be differentiated from the other TV clients (like Roku or Chromecast) by supporting higher fidelity picture and audio output (e.g. MadVR support) and by being more extensible and customisable, but at the cost of requiring more powerful (read: costly) hardware than the former. 2
