Anyone using Smart things by Samsung?

Recommended Posts

I ported the Phillips hue plugin to use Samsung smart things.

It needs some testing if anyone is interested.

I don't own a smart things hub, so if it peeks and interest let me know.

I use Smart Things hub with the Shield device (the little dongle they released a couple years ago).

What does the plugin do? Does it automate turning on/off smart devices with Emby or something?

Yes, based on playback events. The config should allow for a quick setup adding emby devices and smart things scenes together.

If I finish the last bit of porting from hue, would you have a moment or two to try it out?

I would have time tomorrow to try it out.

Will this permit Samsung Robot Vacuums to talk to Vera? It used to work until Samsung went from the Samsung Home app to the Smartthings app and the API was broken.

Using my smartthings hub to control multiple things in my Home Theater so this would be really nice!

If you need a tester, let me know!

I've got a ST hub in use and also run hubitat which uses groovy just like ST so I could do some testing on both platforms if needed.

Another Smartthings user here. I currently use a webhooks plugin for Kodi (Kodi Callbacks) which works well, but of course only for Kodi. I've recently bought a new TV (Samsung Q80R) and have taken to using the native Emby app as my HTPC is 1080p only and I've a few 4k HDR films now.

I've not looked at the hue plugin (don't use hue) but I'm guessing this would allow me to dim lights on playback, raise lights on stop/pause etc like I do with the Kodi plugin? If so, that would be glorious; never realised till these last 2 weeks since getting the new TV how much I liked/missed having the lights dim automatically during playback. Will this plugin be user aware? I.e. if my son plays something on his Emby account on his TV in his bedroom upstairs would it dim the lights in the living room? Thanks for your efforts in advance, no matter how it turns out chef! I've got some free time this week as well if you want another tester.
