That was after selecting "Yes" on the playback correction dialog?  Try it again...

You can use that option repeatedly to try different methods of playback.

There should have been some ffmpeg logs generated.  Can I see those?

Looks like even ffmpeg is having trouble with the orientation...

Can you attach an ffmpeg log example? Thanks.

Okay, so even when transcoding it still doesn't orient properly so that would indicate to me something strange about the recording (or at least unexpected by us and ffmpeg).

@@softworkz, you see anything interesting?

The required rotation is indicated in two different ways in the source video:

  1. Metadata "rotate"
  2. Side-Data: Transform matrix

When running ffmpeg (no matter whether directstream or transcode), we're always stripping off all metadata, that means #1 gets lost and #2 is preserved.

That would explain why some clients show the video rotated (those looking for #2) and other won't (those looking for #1).

Hello~Does this mean my video file had incorrect information for rotation

But the Emby Web Player is play well

No, the information is at two different places and one of them isn't preserved by Emby right now.

@Davkoks

Hi.  Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares?

https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html

Thanks.

In an application installed from .apk, the effect is the same.
instaled version: Emby for Android 3.3.50 (taken from links provided by You)

I've tried play this video from usb-drive and effect is the same as well.
After all, it looks like tv have some weird codecs in it

So 3.3.50 plays in correct orientation on your phone but not your TV? That's what you're saying? Both at 3.3.50?

Unfortunetly yes.

I've checked playing thesame video directly from memory, and both, default preview, and from VLD player instyaled on TV had problems with it. (emby was better in retaining vertical in this case but instead of rotating view, it stretched the image - other aps havent rotate it)

Can you provide a copy of the video for testing? Thanks.

Hi, did you test to make sure that the problem occurs with the sample that you cut?

All videos from my phone work the same way (same video record settings) . I did not test it in android version of app installed on TV, but behavior on Android TV version was wrong as mentioned before.
